Banedanmark

Procurement of transformers

Banedanmark

OpgavebeskrivelseBanedanmark is the Danish national Railway Administration organized under the Danish Ministry of Transport, Building and Housing. Our mission is to make available the railway infrastructure for all kinds of train operators. This includes establishment and maintenance of rails, high voltage overhead driving wires, signal systems and a greater number of service facilities around the railways and railway stations.

The actual invitation to tender addresses one of the above mentioned service facilities around some of the railway stations near the Danish capital, Copenhagen. Banedanmark need to replace a total of 14 special transformers (including one spare-transformer) supplying electrical build-in pre-heaters in the train-sets. These heaters are each supplied with single phase 1,500 V AC (50 Hz) through plug-connectors placed along rest-tracks, where the train-sets are placed during off-duty periods. The single phase pre-heating elements uses the wagon chasis/wheels, and hence the rails themselves, as earth-neutral return conductors, while they are equipped with a terminal for linking to a 1,500 V phase. The existing app. 30 years old transformers, which are now to be replaced, are of the special type Scott-T winding.
